Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Bentley Strategy, LLC collects through bentleystrategy.com and the Future-Ready Martech Blueprint™, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We are a small independent advisory practice. We collect very little, and we do not sell any of it.
The short version. Your Blueprint assessment answers stay in your own browser. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them. The only personal information we receive is what you deliberately submit, such as an email address on a feedback or access-request form, plus standard website analytics.

1. Who we are
Bentley Strategy, LLC, a Texas limited liability company located in Frisco, Texas, is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. This policy covers bentleystrategy.com and the tools published on it, including the Future-Ready Martech Blueprint.
2. Your Blueprint answers
This is the part most people want to know about, so it comes first.
In the current version of the Blueprint, your assessment runs entirely in your own web browser. Your outcome priorities, capability ratings, tool selections, pain points, free-text comments, and organization name are processed on your device and saved only in your own browser's local storage, on that device, in that browser. They are not transmitted to us, and we have no ability to see them.
That has two consequences worth understanding:
- Nobody else who uses the Blueprint can see your answers, and neither can we.
- Because we do not hold a copy, we cannot recover your work if you clear your browser data, switch devices or browsers, or use private browsing. Use the export option in the tool if you want a copy you control.
Your answers only reach us if you deliberately send them, for example by emailing us an exported file or by pasting content into a form. If you type something into an optional free-text field and submit it to us through a form, we receive what you typed, so please avoid including confidential information or personal details about other people.
If we later introduce hosted saving, resume links, or team invitations, those features will involve storing data on our service providers' servers. We will update this policy and describe them before those features go live.
3. What we collect
| Category | What it includes | How we get it |
|---|---|---|
| Information you give us | Your email address, organization name, feedback ratings and comments, any free-text notes you choose to submit, and the contents of emails you send us. | Directly from you, when you submit the Blueprint's feedback form or access-request form, or email us. |
| Usage and device information | Pages viewed, referring page, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, language, and timestamps. | Automatically, through Google Analytics and our hosting provider's server logs. |
| Local browser data | Your saved in-progress assessment and interface preferences such as light or dark mode. | Stored on your device by your browser. Not transmitted to us. See section 7. |
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not submit any. We do not collect payment card information through this site.
4. How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions, feedback, and access requests, and correspond with you about them;
- Provide, operate, secure, and improve the site and the Blueprint;
- Understand which parts of the site and the tool are used, so we can decide what to build next;
- Send you information about Bentley Strategy's services or the Blueprint, where you have asked for it or where we are otherwise permitted to do so, and always with a way to opt out;
- Create de-identified and aggregated statistics and benchmarks that do not identify you or your organization;
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not use your personal information to make decisions about you by automated means that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Our legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent, for analytics cookies and for sending you marketing email. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests, for operating and securing the site, responding to your enquiries, and understanding how the site is used, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Performance of a contract, where you have asked us to provide something and we need your information to do so.
- Legal obligation, where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not rent or trade mailing lists.
We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and for no other purpose:
- Netlify, which hosts the site and processes form submissions and server logs;
- Google Analytics (Google LLC), which provides website usage analytics;
- Our email provider, for correspondence with you.
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bentley Strategy, our users, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy or give you notice of any material change.
7. Cookies, analytics, and browser storage
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic. It sets cookies and collects usage data as described above. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Google's own practices are described in its privacy policy.
Browser local storage
The Blueprint uses your browser's local storage to save your in-progress assessment and your display preferences. This is not a cookie, it is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and it is readable only by this site in your browser on your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings for site data, which will delete any saved assessment.
Do Not Track
The site does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because no common standard for them has been adopted.
8. How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you and to maintain a record of our dealings, and generally no longer than 36 months after our last contact with you, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve a dispute. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings, generally no longer than 14 months. De-identified and aggregated data, which cannot identify you, may be kept indefinitely.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you a copy;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Delete your personal information;
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
- Provide your information in a portable format, or transmit it to another controller; or
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave, without affecting processing already carried out.
To make a request, email rob@bentleystrategy.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, normally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request.
To stop receiving email from us, use the unsubscribe link in any marketing message or simply reply and ask. Transactional replies to your own enquiries are not marketing and will continue as needed to answer you.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your information properly, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We would appreciate the chance to address it first.
10. Notice for California residents
In the twelve months before the date of this policy, we have collected the categories of personal information described in section 3, which correspond to the following categories under the California Consumer Privacy Act: identifiers (such as email address and IP address), commercial information, internet or other electronic network activity information, and geolocation data inferred from IP address. We collect it from the sources and for the business purposes described in sections 3 and 4, and disclose it to the service providers listed in section 6.
We have not sold personal information, and we have not shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, in the preceding twelve months. We do not have actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
California residents may exercise the rights to know, delete, correct, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them, by contacting us as described in section 9. You may use an authorized agent, in which case we may ask for proof of authorization.
11. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our service providers process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. By using the site you understand that your information will be processed as described in this policy.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to the small amount of information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send confidential business information or sensitive personal information through the forms on this site.
13. Children
The site and the Blueprint are intended for business users and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice where practical. Please review this page periodically.
